DEATH BECOMES ME

What exactly would happen if I was to die right this second? That's the question I ask myself over and over again when I watch the show 'Six Feet Under.' Is it a good time to watch a show of this magnitude if those thoughts are going through my head? Why the hell not in my opinion. I can remember in 2004 when my mom passed away if you would have asked me what was on the forefront of my mind almost everyday it would have been: when I was going to die, and how okay I was with the fact that if I died that very minute I'd be happy. Not to be too morbid but I wasn't depressed or harboring any anger to the extent that death was a viable option, because I wasn't thinking about suicide at all. Instead I was okay with the fact of dying from an accidental death or when my time was up - either way I knew that I would be with my mother and totally happy.

Did I want to die? HELL NO!!!

The show 'Six Feet Under,' takes a very dark humor approach to death and is highly suggested viewing material by me if you missed it the first time around.

TRACY CHAPMAN

As of late I've been listening to Tracy Chapman a lot! She's always in my playlist because her music continues to be so prolific and pertinent to what this world is going through but I also think that her music is a soulful blend of raw love and raw emotion; very few singers exude this anymore and Tracy does just that!

Her newest album Our Bright Future is one of her best to date, keeping the compact disc permanently in my car's CD system.
If you haven't had a chance to pick it up I highly suggest it, if you fearful on what this $9.99 purchase might entail I promise it's
a melodic journey which is great to listen to in the rain or when you're driving home from work. I think one of favorite songs on the album is called "SOMETHING TO SEE." The chorus: beautifully optimistic, Tracy sings "No war no greed. That would be something to see. I hope I live that long."

The song below, although an older song, is probably one of the best she has ever performed... truly amazing!

COULD IT BE THAT GOOD?

I was on Perez Hilton's site this morning and I saw that Rolling Stone Magazine announced their music albums of the year! I don't subscribe to Rolling Stone magazine, actually I think of it as an inferior music magazine - but that's a different story.

Their number one album is by the band TV on the Radio entitled 'Dear Science.' It's ironic because for the past three months *more or less* that album has remained on my desk and has not been played or added to my iTunes library. If you know me then you know that adding music into my library is a priority so it's a bit odd that I haven't done so yet.

Now I can't wait to get home and grab the album and listen to it, although I fear that I am now going to expect too much of it and it won't live up to the hype... we'll see!
Has anyone heard it yet?

Why does David Cook irk me so much? There's no denying that the boy is talented, however I think his success has been traced too much to Chris Daughtry's career - and God knows that man is genius too! David Cook is not quite a pretty boy like Chris Daughtry and his persona is little off too, I don't know why, I just can't gauge him. HOWEVER, his new song 'Light On' is not so bad, I can listen to it and not get the Ibbie-jeebies as much as his other songs. I am hoping that he will grow on me, much like Carrie Underwood did. Check out his first song from his debut, freshman album, chances are you will dig it and want to buy it!

All you teeny-boppers and gay boys love him for being the shy and cute Mormon boy from American Idol last season - oh, don't dare you say the word 'sexy, *GASP* he's only 17 years old!

I heard the album on preview and I didn't think too much of it, but I refuse to condemn it until I give it a full and proper listen - stay tuned for that. Until then you can buy his first single from the new album out TODAY, it's called "Crush." The lyric that hooks me is "Do you catch a breath when I look at you? Are you holding back like the way I do?" Okay, those lyrics didn't just hook me (granted I know that David Archuleta had NO HAND in writing these lyrics) I am almost positive the first few times I heard the song I broke down in baby boo-hoo cries remembering all the dudes that I had a crush on and they either weren't attracted to me or didn't know I was alive and breathing next to them *sigh*!

When I hear an artist that kicks major butt I get so excited - enter Lady GaGa!! Perez HIlton touted her album to be like the next coming of Christ, and he was correct.

I am picking the song "Poker Face" as my PICK O' THE DAY because the song has a different feel than her breakthrough song "Just Dance," and I think an overall better produced song: more dynamic, better thought out, hard-hitting if you will.

I wish I could show the video but YouTube prevents me so I can only let you hear the song. If you need to see the glorious video before you buy the song its available on iTunes for purchase or on YouTube for free viewing. No matter what you do go to iTunes and buy her new album 'The Fame,' you won't regret it... TRUST ME. I really can't say anything else about Lady GaGa except you will be seeing more of this 21 year old diva - doesn't she look like she is in her 30's? Either way she's fierce, and Scott doesn't use the word FIERCE very often *wink*!

Since the Sophomore release from Shiny Toy Guns comes out today, 11/04/08, I felt as if I should pay homage to one of their classic songs from their first album "We Are Pilots." This dynamic electro-pop infused song is called "You Are The One," and it's a great representation of what this amazing band is all about! Shiny Toy Guns had one huge song on the radio called "le disko," it was an average song (in my opinion) that didn't wow me any, but if it gave perspective Shiny Toy Gun fans a sneak peak/sample of what the band sounds like then I guess it served its purpose.

I highly recommend you buy the album "We Are Pilots," on iTunes - the new album, well the jury is still out! I for one had no idea that the new album was coming! I have to admit that I don't subscribe to the band's gossip sites so I had no idea that one of the lead singers was booted out of the group and that the new album was a bit heavier than the Freshman release - I'll see about that. I am hoping that my BFF, Joseph, gives me the new album called "Season of Poison," so I can check it out and give it a gander - I'm hoping it's good because I fell in love with this band a few years ago, and even turned a few people onto the band too! The one thing I hate is when a new band comes out with an amazing album but doesn't follow through with their second - kinda like Pearl Jam, kinda *wink*!!!

I'd bet that David Archuleta didn't write this song but nevertheless it's amazing!Have you heard it? I already downloaded it from iTunes
and think it's a mature effort and shows that this kid will go far.

THEY FOUND A CURE

The Cure are back and both of their new songs are surprisingly good!!! No one is more ecstatic than I am after their letdown of an album a few years ago entitled "Bloodflowers."

Their first two singles released today on iTunes are called THE ONLY ONE and NY TRIP. The songs sound like they were taken off of some of their great albums like Wish or Wild Mood Swings. These two songs make me want to go see them at the Hollywood Bowl next month - the only problem is getting my hands on some good, cheap lawn seats from a scalper/ticket agency!

COBRA CATCH UP

I need to catch up on my blog, I realize this... sorry Karen and the three others that read my blog. I am almost finished with the posting that should have been up yesterday detailing my plans for the next six months... just wait for it, it will be worth it!

Okay so I there is a somewhat new band out there I think you should all know about. You might have heard of Cobra Starship because they contributed a song to the Snakes on a Plane soundtrack... okay maybe you haven't heard of them, LOL! Anyway, they were on Jimmy Kimmel the other night and you have to check out their total electric performance - the crowd is feeling it too, AMAZING. Just think Panic! At the Disco meets Flock of Seagulls ! Trust me, it's worth the watch and if you do dig it then buy their new album on iTunes called Viva la Cobra!
